What is the Housing Bonus?
The Housing Bonus is a subsidy from the Dominican government that covers up to the 10% of the value of a low-cost home (up to RD$4,500,000, ~US$75,000) for middle and low-income families purchasing their first home. Managed by the National Housing Institute (INVI) and the National Housing and Production Bank (BNV).
Requirements to apply
- Be Dominican or a legal resident
- Not owning another real estate property
- Maximum monthly family income: RD$100,000 (~US$1,700)
- Home with a maximum value of RD$4,500,000
- The project must be registered in the program
- Have pre-approval for a mortgage loan
Amounts and benefits
The subsidy covers up to RD$450,000 (~US$7,500) which is applied directly to the down payment of the home. Combined with bank financing, it allows access to housing with a minimum initial disbursement. Some projects in Ciudad Juan Bosch, San Isidro, and other areas of Santo Domingo Este qualify.
